Karizza McFarland, Esq.

Karizza McFarland is the lead attorney for McFarland Law’s immigration department. She has been licensed to practice law in Washington D.C. since 2018 and she works exclusively on immigration cases in North Carolina per North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct 5.5(d)(2). However, wherever you are located, Karizza can represent you in your immigration case. She represents clients in a wide variety of immigration benefits and practices in immigration removal defense.
Karizza attended college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011. After college, Karizza attended Elon University School of Law. She graduated in 2016 and received her Juris Doctor.
While in law school, Karizza emphasized studying immigration law by interning at the Elon University School of Law Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic. She also did internships with the United States (U.S.) Department of Homeland Security U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Legal Aid of North Carolina Battered Immigrant Project. Karizza has worked in private practice as an immigration lawyer since 2018.
Karizza has helped numerous families achieve reunification in the United States through the immigration system. She has also tried many removal cases in immigration court. As an immigrant herself, Karizza understands how achieving positive results in the U.S. immigration system can change a person’s life for the better. The most rewarding part of Karizza’s job is helping families stay together or reunite.
Karizza is originally from Las Pinas, Philippines, but she immigrated to Durham, North Carolina when she was 10 years old. In her free time, Karizza enjoys spending time with her husband, Attorney Michael McFarland in the criminal and traffic department, and their son. Karizza also loves travelling and learning to cook delicious Filipino food.
